Community Kitchen

Cook, share skills, reduce isolation, and build community around good food.

Volunteers serving a warm meal during Cedarfield’s Community Kitchen.

About this program

Community Kitchen creates space for people to prepare food together, share practical skills, enjoy conversation, and build relationships around the table. The focus is as much on community as it is on the finished meal.

Sessions can include batch cooking, affordable meal ideas, seasonal recipes, baking, preserving, or preparing food for a community supper. Activities can also connect with Cedarfield's food-security partnerships when there is a practical need.

No professional cooking experience is required. Tasks can be divided so people can chop, measure, stir, set tables, wash dishes, package food, or simply help welcome participants according to their comfort and mobility.

Current meeting details are maintained in the At a glance panel and Upcoming Events. Ingredients are provided for scheduled sessions, and participants are asked to identify food allergies or dietary restrictions in advance.

Volunteer and participant numbers may be limited by kitchen capacity. Check Upcoming Events for the next session and contact the office if you would like to help with food preparation, cleanup, shopping, or hosting.

A bright kitchen prepared for community food programs.
